PUG & PIG TRICK-OR-TREAT is an adorable and delightful Halloween-themed picture book about friendship. Halloween is coming, and Pug and Pig are ready, much to Pig's delight and Pug's chagrin. Their matching skeleton costumes are ruined when Pug shreds his around the yard. Pig wants someone to do all the fun Halloween things with him, such as trick-or-treating and handing out candy. Pug realizes this and comes up with his own Halloween costume. Together, they celebrate the holiday in their own costumes.

What I loved: This is a really sweet story of friendship and finding a compromise to make friends happy. Although Pug isn't into the holiday and hates his costume, he finds a new costume so that he can enjoy the Halloween festivities that Pig is excited about. The end result is something that makes both of them happy. The simple phrasing and repetitive language is perfect for young readers, especially toddlers and preschoolers, and those who are beginning to read independently. The illustrations are really great as well, with expressive characters, plenty of color, and Halloween fun.

Final verdict: A sweet picture book about friendship, PUG & PIG TRICK-OR-TREAT is a delightful Halloween read that toddlers and preschoolers are sure to love.
