BABY ANIMAL MAZES is an interactive board book that allows young children to recognize patterns and follow paths. Each page features a baby animal that needs to go somewhere, such as to a parent or out of a burrow. Missing spaces in the mazes are open for children to put in one of three discs that complete the pattern/path.
What I loved: This is a fun, interactive board book that allows children to build on their pattern recognition and problem solving skills. Each page spread has a maze that they can trace with a finger, as well as spaces for them to finish the path. Three options is perfect for young ones, as they can try each or play around with the 3 options easily without being overwhelmed. There is a spot in the front of the book for readers to store them when done.
The illustrations are colorful and varied with plenty of adorable baby animals throughout. The mazes vary in complexity as well, with some being very simple to follow and only one spot to finish, while others have more lines/dead ends and up to all 3 discs to use to complete the patterns. The discs are dual-sided, which is also nice with a green and brown side that works with most scenes (they don't match water for instance). The pages are also nicely tactile, with the mazes having a bit of a groove that is fun to feel as they trace along the paths.
Limited text works well in this book, as the main event is completing the mazes and patterns. Text is small and up in the top corners of each page, giving the animal and their task.
Final verdict: BABY ANIMAL MAZES is a charming, interactive board book, great for preschoolers who are working on pattern recognition and problem-solving.
