Russell the sheep has a problem. When night comes, and all the other sheep go to sleep, Russell can't. He tries everything, including pulling his sleep cap over his eyes so it's darker, trying to get cooler, and finding a different sleeping spot.

Nothing works!

At last he decides to count things. Counting his feet doesn't work and neither does counting the stars. Hmm. At last, he decides to count sheep. Sleep still eludes him, however, until he remembers to count the very last one--him!

This is the perfect bed-time tale, with a clever story line and adorable illustrations. Children and parents alike should enjoy finding the funny little details in the pictures (one illustration shows a sheep knitting, as the wool unravels from another onto her knitting needles.

Highly recommended for sleepyheads everywhere.

Wow! I completely fell in love with this book! When my first grade little brother brought it home I quickly snatched it up and read it ... over and over. It was so awesome I even called my boyfriend and told him about it, and he came over and read it too!

Russell the Sheep is the story of, well obviously, Russell the sheep. He is a very interesting sheep, and can never quite get to sleep. He tried everything from hiding in a car trunk, to laying down with the owls.

Then he has a GREAT idea! What if he counts stuff?! He counts ALL million billion stars! But that just wasn't enough for Russell! So he begins to count his legs, only to realize that he only has four legs ... and four is not nearly enough to fall asleep to ... He begins to count all his neighboring sheeps ... and just as he begins to doze off... dawn breaks! And all the other sheep are up and ready to start their day ... all of them except for Russell ...

This is an awesome book, with really fun pictures an easy to follow story for little kids, and words that my 1st grade brother could read. I say this is one of the best kids' story books there are, and I plan on buying it and reading it on those long nights when I have trouble catching a few ZzZzzzZZz's.
