Sea in my Cells explores the lifecycle of water from the sea, to your cup, and into your cells. This book discusses the concept that the water on Earth is the total amount of water available, so we should consider the various benefits that water provides to us when we drink it.

What I Liked: The opening of this book invites you into a scene in which you are resting after playing and need to fuel up with some water. This book then takes a dive into how our cells need water and how everything around us is made up of cells that need water. This book takes you on a fantastic journey through the ocean, which is where the water in our cups is coming from, to the mountains that need water as well, to your house that needs a lot of water, and then to various other settings around the world in which water is used. The book also takes you on the journey that water undergoes in a human’s body, and why we constantly need to drink more water.

The illustrations throughout this book are cute and fun as they take you through different scenes and settings. The illustrations take you through different ways that water interacts with the earth such as through rain, through your pipes, and even into the underground pipes where mice and moles live and do everyday things like we do that need water.

Final Verdict: Sea in My Cells is a great book about water, highlighting the connection between people and the sea, and how that water is important to everyday life. Children ages 4 and up will enjoy the fantasy-filled illustrations, and adults will enjoy the way that this book captures young readers' attention while managing to teach them the important aspects of water.
