This first book in the series establishes Sejal and her furry cheetah stuffie as having imagination power. They can transform a box into a rocket ship or airplane to help them make scientific explorations. In this first adventure, her family comes together to celebrate Diwali but a developing hurricane threatens to ruin it all. Sejal and her brother Abu, dog Fluff Monster, cousin Mira, and Professor Cheetah take off in their box-turned-ship to stop the Hurricane.
I like the mix of cultural and scientific facts mixed with a big splash of imagination. The illustrations are well done-and engaging. The names of the chapters are enticing and the length of each chapter is great for the targeted age group. I was a bit confused if the story was all just in their imagination but reading the book description it is supposed to be like the Magic School Bus and that they really are going on these adventures to learn more. With that understanding in mind, the book was a fun way to learn more about Hurricanes. Sejal mentions all the different scientists in her family so we can expect future books to tie into the different areas for a wide range of exploration. Overall, this was a fun early chapter book great for K-4th grade readers.
