Sir Charlie Stinky
Socks and the Really Big Adventure, by Kristina Stephenson, is a
hilariously-illustrated book for children who love a good, scary adventure
story.
           Sir Charlie
is a brave young knight who is not afraid to venture into the dark woods and
stand up to moaning beasties and cackling witches. Armed with his sword, his trusty steed, a
couple of sandwiches, his cat and a big cup of water, he sets off to find
adventure. Â What he finds is a thirsty
dragon and a pretty, teary-eyed princess hidden away in a creepy room at the
top of a dark, winding staircase.
           What
happens next is&well, I suppose you should read the story and find that out for
yourself. But I can tell you this: Sir Charlies socks may stink up a storm, but
they dont stop him from being one brave knight.
           Your child
is sure to enjoy this one, especially the illustrations, which are curiously reminiscent
of the sleepy-time monsters in the beloved childrens classic, Where The Wild Things Are.
           Enjoy.
