Sleepy Sheepy and the Sheepover is a relatable bedtime story that young children will adore. The book follows Sleepy Sheepy as he goes to his very first sheepover at his grandparents' house. At first, he is excited and packs happily, but once his parents leave, he begins to feel homesick. His blankets scratch, his pajamas don’t match, and suddenly, nothing feels quite right to him. Through playful rhymes and funny situations, the story shows how Sleepy Sheepy copes with missing home while learning to adjust to a new environment. This book is perfect for children who are taking naps during the day but may feel uneasy being away from their parents, helping them feel comforted and understood.

The illustrations by Pete Oswald in this book are very colorful, making it easy for children to follow Sleepy Sheepy’s emotions in every scene. Kids love watching him go from excited to nervous to finally relaxing, and the playful details in the drawings keep them engaged throughout the story. My favorite part is when Sleepy Sheepy finally starts to enjoy the sheepover despite his worries, which makes it heartwarming and reassuring for children experiencing similar feelings. Fans of the Sleepy Sheepy series will especially enjoy how consistent the humor and lovable characters are across the books, keeping children excited for each new adventure.
