Slide and Peek Santa

SLIDE AND PEEK SANTA is a delightful, interactive board book to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Santa has brought some gifts for the animals, and children can help to open and reveal them. Each page features a pull out slider to open the gifts.

What I loved: The most fun part of this book is definitely how interactive it is! Children who love lift-the-flap and similar style books will be thrilled to pull out the slider on each page to reveal the gifts and see the animals using them. They are all two-sided, so there is a gift on every single page to open with two sliders per page spread. The book is a simple concept, but very fun with Christmas fun for little ones.

The illustrations are fantastic with bright use of colors and focus on animals and their gifts that they are opening. The gifts feature common animal-food or similar associations that add to the fun and predictability, which is also great for toddlers. The board book pages are also nice and thick, which is great for this age as well.

What left me wanting more: If you have a rough reader who can pull out sliders, you will lose a bit of the story, as the sliding pages have part of the text on them (on some pages, all the text is on the sliders). If the sliders get bent at all, they become very difficult to move in and out, and ours were bent pretty quickly from excited toddler use. That being said, there are still plenty of bright colors and cute animals to see, even when the sliders are less functional.

Final verdict: SLIDE AND PEEK SANTA is a fun and interactive holiday board book that will charm toddlers who love to explore through touch and reveal the surprises on every page!
