Slow Down, Shoshi!: It's Shabbat in Uganda blends the culture of a small community in Uganda with their Jewish faith to show how they celebrate Shabbat. This story is a unique perspective that was unknown to me before reading. Themes of community, family, and faith are woven into the story to share this diverse perspective of the author, who has used many elements of her own childhood to create this authentic story. The backmatter explains the history of the Abayudaya Jewish community in East Uganda, which was interesting. Overall, this is a sweet book that shares a unique culture and their faith to broaden the reader’s perspective
