Smelly Peggy is a humorous picture book by Helen Stephens that captures what it's like to have a dog that is lovable and naughty all at once. Peggy is a rescue dog who is always getting into scrapes that sometimes leave her a bit smelly.
From stealing mom's undies to scooting her stinky butt all over the carpet Peggy is a naughty dog. Despite her naughtiness, her family is still very amused by her antics.
What I Liked: The book is funny and geared towards young readers. I read this to my kindergarten students, and this book got lots of giggles, especially around anything dealing with poop. I also liked the message that as naughty as Peggy was, her family still loved her, even if they got annoyed with her. Hands down, the illustrations are the best part. They capture Peggy and her shenanigans so well.
Smelly Peggy is a hilarious story that young readers and dog lovers will enjoy.
