SNOW KID is a sweet picture book story about growing up and finding your way. Twig was brought together with snowflakes, a carrot, sticks, and a hat. When their hat blows away, Twig sets out to find it. However, Twig is not sure if they are still Twig without their hat. As they begin to change, switch their nose, and grow, Twig is not totally sure of who they are. By the end, Twig finds themselves and embraces all the changes that has brought them to the present.

What I loved: This is an ultimately sweet winter story about self-discovery and self-determination. Although Twig was created by some people, they become their own being through the changes that occur on their journey, representative of their life. Children who are growing and changing may relate to the feeling of needing to rediscover themselves and what they like/want as they grow.

On a deeper note, this is a thought-provoking read about what makes us who we are and which elements bestowed upon us we should keep to maintain our being. Life experiences (much like the deer who eats Twig's nose) can change us and throw us for a loop. At the end of day, we may change and grow and can embrace who we are throughout our journeys. These messages were really thoughtfully presented and worth deeper consideration.

The artwork is lovely with adorable figures and fun details throughout. The use of color is soft and adds to the journey and emotions of the story, keeping it gentle and thoughtful. The font is likewise clear and easy to read throughout, which makes this a good pick for reading aloud and sharing.

Final verdict: SNOW KID is a thought-provoking and sweet story about growing up, finding your way, and embracing yourself along the way.
