SPORTY BABY is a delightful, interactive board book. The book covers a variety of ball-related sports, showing adorable children playing each. Every page has an interactive element where young children get to help the balls move around by using their fingers to get into the action!
What I loved: This is a cute board book that really gets toddlers engaged. They can spin a wheel to move the balls around on the page, or help the soccer ball move towards the goal with a slide, or swivel the basketball into the net over the page. These actions are highly engaging and add a tactile element to the story that is perfect for older babies and young toddlers.
The text is simple but engaging with great rhymes on each page, describing the actions and naming the sports. The font is clear and easy to read, and the phrases roll off the tongue to make this one that is fun both to read aloud and to listen to. The rhyming phrases are perfect for this age group who will delight in the sounds and the rhythm.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, some of the actions can be a bit tough to do, such as the golf club, which sticks a little. However, if I can get it started, my toddler can pull the page out from the other side. For rough readers, some of these will become ripped, but they are generally pretty sturdy throughout, and the text works even if some of the actions are missing.
Final verdict: SPORTY BABY is a delightful, interactive board book that toddlers are sure to love!
