I love the way this book was broken down into different eras. The table of contents highlights them wonderfully for the target audience, starting with what a fossil is.
Stones and Bones also includes information about different scientist as well, that helped the field of digging up fossils, the rock cycle, and much more!
The terminology might be a bit much for the younger side, but is fantastic if your children already have an interest in paleontology. Other than the larger words, its written well and easy for children to comprehend.
The 80 pages could be a lot to take in all at once, but is perfect for era specific study/projects.
Towards the end, there is a section on how to become a paleontologist and it, too, is very informative. Younger kids would get a blast fossil hunting in their backyards!

The illustrations are fun! The artist did a great job detailing different species or dinosaurs and rocks. They are still fun and educational without being too scientific or overwhelming.
