STOP THAT WITCH! is a delightful, rhyming picture book. A detective has his Halloween treat bucket stolen by a witch, who is on the run! He chases after her and nearly catches her as she goes around town. In the end, she escapes him, but leaves a fresh bucket of Halloween treats.

What I loved: This is perfect for fans of the HOW TO CATCH series with a slightly different take on a supernatural hunt. Here, a detective is chasing after a witch who has stolen his Halloween candy bucket. The story includes many fall-themed stops, such as a corn maze and a costume shop. He frequently gets close, but she always makes her escape. The ending was satisfying with the detective getting lots of a treats and a note that implies this was a fun game for all.

The illustrations are great with lots of details and color, plus all sorts of settings and the witch to hunt in each scene. The Halloween spirit shines through each page spread. The text has a fantastic rhythm and rhyme that really rolls off the tongue and is very fun to hear aloud.

Final verdict: STOP THAT WITCH! is a fun picture book romp that will appeal to young readers who enjoy Halloween, rhyming, and a touch of silliness.
