TEN TWINKLY STARS is a sweet, counting board book. The story uses a rhyme to count down from 10 all the way to one, as animals are settling down to sleep. Die-cut stars add to the continuity of the story as the stars disappear one by one (though they are all back at the end!).

What I loved: This is a really sweet board book read that helps little ones settle down for bed with sleepy messages, lulling rhymes, and tired animals. The rhyming text easily rolls of the tongue and adds to the fun with a few lines per page. As the text is relatively short on each page spread, the pages turn quickly, which works well for older infants and young toddlers.

The illustrations are lovely, capturing many different animals as they get ready for sleep. There is plenty of detail to keep children entertained throughout the book. I also appreciate the use of colors throughout, so that the book isn't too dark and the text remains easy to read, even in low light settings like bedtime. The die-cut star peek-throughs add to the fun throughout, and the countdown helps with early number recognition.
