When I received this book as a gift last Christmas, I didn't know what to expect. I had gotten many Christmas books before, and some I liked, and others I didn't think were as good. But "The Christmas Mouse" by artist and writer Robert Segarra turned out to be a breath of fresh air. I thought the illustrations and the story, which seem at first innocent and one-dimensional are actually much more important. I learned that even through some very simple examples, we as human beings can also learn the important message of the season of Christmas.

The Christmas Mouse By artist and writer Robert Segarra is one of those Christmas books that you can read long after the holiday is history. The illustrations clearly and magically convey the basic gist of the story, but it is the tale itself and the artwork combined that separates this Christmas story from many of those that we read each and every year. This book is not strictly a Christmas story, and that is also what sets this one apart. Timothy the Mouse one year experiences the holiday for the very first time when he goes to visit his cousin. He enjoys himself so much that he in turn wishes to share this newfound happiness with his friends and family back home in the country. And this is just what he sets out to do. He learns the true meaning of the holiday through sharing, and through the good will he feels directed toward him.
