A beautiful, informative book full of diagrams, facts, and tales. The sections span from biology to cultures to symbolism and language, a variety that's sure to engage readers with many interests (or help them discover a new one). Some trivia inspires fascination; others, that warm and fuzzy feeling associated with hearts and love.

As a casual learner, I enjoyed the balance of information. Fun facts from the biology section include how the heart is the first organ formed in the womb, and grows to weigh the same as a grapefruit, as well as the history of heart science and how to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle. Other sections discuss the different hearts in animals, global stories related to the heart, how the heart-shape became a symbol for love, and how the heart is represented in languages, literature, and music. The softly colored illustrations help depict each subject or concept, and the interesting facts and tales are sure to leave the reader curious for more.

Pick this up for a book that celebrates shared history, the wonder of nature, and human connections.
