Review Detail
4.0 1If youre looking for a book that helps your child celebrate
the importance of accepting differences in others while laughing out loud in
the process, The Marshmallow Incidence,
by Judi Barrett, is the perfect book.
           Barrett,
who also wrote Cloudy With a Chance of
Meatballs, and Pickles to Pittsburg,
teams up with her illustrator-husband, Ron Barrett, to give children ages 4 to
8 a gooey taste of old-world humor and an eye-full of hilarious illustrations.
The Marshmallow Incident happens in the cartoon
towns of Left and Right, which are nestled side-by-side and separated by a big
yellow line. The townspeople living on
either side have nothing to do with each otheronly they cant remember why
they dont like each other&or when the dislike started.
           It takes a
clumsy townsperson tripping over the sacred yellow line, and a sky-full of
falling marshmallows to start the townspeople thinking about why they have been
behaving the way they do.
           This is a
cute, cleverly-written little story that is sure to touch your childs funny
bone, and teach about differences in the process.
