THE ULTIMATE SPACE QUEST is an engaging middle grade nonfiction all about outer space and space travel. The book focuses on human exploration of space, breaking into the technology, information about travel to the moon, Mars, and what might come in the future.
What I loved: This is a really approachable and entertaining look at space and our exploration of it. The book is divided into thoughtful chapters that present each topic with entertaining call-outs, passages, and plenty of images and color. The division of text works well for middle grade readers, almost like a magazine, where they can take in each tidbit as desired.
The varied types of information presentation are great for young readers. There are question and answer sections, fun facts, and more to help with visual variety and keep readers hooked. Information about why we need space suits, problems encountered when living in space, and other similar topics present the information with plenty of humor and interest, great for young readers to enjoy.
The book includes plenty of color with different colored background for text sections and illustrations that help to capture to ships, ideas, and humor well. This is great for middle grade readers and presents information on their level beautifully.
Final verdict: THE ULTIMATE SPACE QUEST is an entertaining and enjoyable illustrated middle grade nonfiction, perfect for curious young readers who want to learn more about space exploration!
