This Book is Too Quiet goes through various scenes such as a storm, a kitchen, and fireworks, and invites you to follow prompts to create your sounds to go along with the illustrations.
What I Liked: This book opens by introducing you to the way that the book works, which is great because if this were missing, you would be quite confused as to how to interact with this book. The first few pages provide you with various sounds to follow for the illustrations before leaving you to create your sounds and make decisions on how different items sound. This is where things get fun because the book provides you with busy scenes, and if you have multiple people reading with you, you can hear what the scene might sound like if multiple things are happening at once.
The illustrations do a great job of setting the scene for you before you get into the sounds. In addition to setting the scene, each of the pages has different items highlighted and labeled to create sounds, and some lines guide you from one item to the next. Then other pages don’t have guiding lines so you can decide how you want to create the sounds and the orders to go in. This book is sure to get those creative juices flowing and also ensure that you let yourself get loose and have fun while being a little silly.
Final Verdict: This Book is Too Quiet is a great book for expanding your imagination and allows the reader to interact with the book in various ways continuously. Children will enjoy making the sounds that the pages call for and then creating their sounds for each item, and adults will have a great laugh as their children guess the sounds for items they don’t interact with daily.
