Tiny Garden is about a boy who feels like the neighborhood gardens are too big for him. He decides to plant a tiny garden, and even though his neighbors can’t understand his reasoning, it suits his needs just fine anyway. In his unbothered time in the tiny garden, he sees many insects and hummingbirds that also enjoy the tiny flowers just right for them. The slightly abstract illustrations with broad splashes of color help the story feel whimsical and at odds with the norm of animation-style precision in some children’s books. The color choices and illustrative style complement the calm words and reflective message of the story. Overall, this is a soothing book that helps children understand it is ok to follow your own path in enjoying nature.
