A cozy, starry-bright bedtime tale where all of the animals ride the little red train to wind down from the day and head to sleep. Dog and elephant, fox and rabbit all travel through colorful forests and seas to put on their best pajamas, brush their teeth, and find their cozy bed.

The combination of adventure with calming rituals sets this apart from other bedtime stories. There's the eye-catching red train, which jumps out from the growing soft purples of night, and the animals all have the biggest smiles up until the moment they fall asleep.

This hardcover book features a foiled cover, vibrant fully illustrated pages, and a free audio version, and the rhyming verses make this a clever yet soothing read just before bed. Fans of All Aboard the Bedtime Bus will love this too.

WELCOME TO THE NIGHTTIME TRAIN is a sweet bedtime book read. The book collects animals as they head for bed, making stops in Pajamaville and Toothbrush Town as they get ready for sleep. A final stop for a bedtime story is made before heading home and to bed.

What I loved: This is a cute bedtime book with great rhymes that roll off the tongue. The nighttime activities are ones that most children will recognize - putting on pajamas, brushing their teeth, and reading a bedtime story. The gentle scenes and dark colors help to set the tone for sleep as the rhyming text gently soothes along the way.

Adorable scenes with lots of cute animals appear on every page as the train makes its stops and they get ready. The use of color is great with the later pages becoming darker as animals (and the children reading) begin making their way towards sleep.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, there are some passages that are very challenging read for old eyes in dim light settings such as bedtime. The font eventually switches color, but when it is black on a darkish blue, it is very challenging to read (though this only impacts a page or two).

Final verdict: WELCOME TO THE NIGHTTIME TRAIN is a sweet and gentle picture book that works well for bedtime with rhymes and adorable imagery.

All aboard the night-time train, a magical train that takes you to your dreams. As the animals travel along, they visit several stops along the way.
What I Liked: This is a great way to teach kids about bedtime routines and offers them a fun way to go through it and settle down for the night. They could recite the story as they go through their routine or make sure they have completed it when they read the story. The images are eye catching and really help to tell the story.
What Left Me Wanting More: I would have liked to see a little more of individual characters such as baby bear, but it does show different animals and kids will certainly have their favorites.
Final Verdict: This is a fun book with great illustrations that teaches kids that routine is important. Having the steps laid out can encourage them to learn and hopefully encourage them to go to bed! Highly recommended.
