Belvin is forced to spend the summer on his aunt's farm. He is worried about apex predators, especially alligators and keeps a list of things to worry about. Over the course of the next few weeks, Belvin makes a friend, works hard on the farm and even faces one of his worst fears. Will he overcome it?
What I Loved: I loved this book. It is well written and as someone who has OCD, this was very like me as a kid. Belvin is clearly keeping a lot to himself over his feelings about his father, and this comes out as anxiety. It takes time for him to come out of his shell and grow in confidence.
What Left Me Wanting More: Nothing really, it was a great story with well rounded characters.
Final Verdict: This is a great book for kids who love nature and animals and those who may suffer from similar anxieties. It is important to talk about it and this can help kids deal with their fears. Belvin and Ellie are very similar and I loved how they were able to open up to each other. An entertaining and thoughtful book. Highly recommended.
