Who Ate Steve features Marcel and Steve. Marcel is a bird and Steve is a worm. As the narrator tries to explain that one is big and one is small, Marcel keeps trying to eat Steve!
What I liked: I found this book very funny. I think that kids will love this and it was definitely different to a lot of kids' books. Poor Steve keeps getting almost eaten and that twist ending!
What left me wanting more: Not much. I think that it could have been longer perhaps, but other than that, it was a very enjoyable read.
I would definitely recommend this book to kids. They will get a kick out of the story and the illustrations are fun to look at too.

This book is a book about size. It introduces you to Marcel, who is a bird and big, and Steve, who is a worm and small. Unfortunately for this narrator, every time they want to tell us about Steve, he is nowhere to be found. Now we are pretty sure that Marcel has something to do about it, and we have to convince him to return that worm so we can finish this story.

What I Liked: This book opens by letting you know that it is a book about size, and then tries to introduce you to Marcel and Steve. Marcel always gets a grand introduction about who he is and how big he is, but when it's Steve’s turn, he is nowhere to be found. Although it seems that he is somewhere with Marcel, the narrator of the book has had enough of Marcel’s antics and pleads with him to allow this book to continue with the introduction of Steve.

The illustrations within this book add to the simple nature of the words and highlight the funny moments, such as when Steve is getting eaten by Marcel. The structure of this book makes it easy for a younger audience to follow, as things are separated into boxes to compare Marcel with Steve.

Final Verdict: Who Ate Steve is a hilarious and silly book highlighting the difference in size of things and also showcasing the food chain for some animals. Children ages 4 and up will love solving this easy mystery of where Steve went each time he disappears from the page. Adults will laugh along with their children, especially at the close of the book, where you can only guess what happens to Marcel.
