WHOSE NEST IS BEST shows readers the different nests that birds make. From simple nests to nests woven with spider web, this book showcases 12 birds and the nests that they call home. Each bird is given a two-page layout to truly showcase the bird as well as their nest.
When a book is focused on animals and nature, it becomes important to have really good illustrations to go along with it. This book is a prime showcase of that fact. The birds are beautifully illustrated, each detail lovingly added into the picture. Their settings are just as carefully drawn out, especially considering how often the setting plays into the nests. Vibrant colors, clean lines, beautiful details. It all adds together to make a truly wonderful and immersive experience.
The book also provides interesting facts about the birds. Not just how they build their nests, but also about their lives and structure. It can be something simple such as the color of their eyes and where they live or something more interesting like what they eat. I’m always fascinated by animals and I love learning more about these birds.
A rhythmic story accompanies the illustrations. Each bird giving their own point of view about themselves as well as their nests. They explain what makes their nest the best of all the bird nests. I found the rhymes to be fun and creative, each one bringing the story to life just a bit more.
If you’ve got a reader that’s interested in birds or nature, this is a fantastic book to allow them to explore further. Full of fan facts and gorgeous illustrations, it is an amazing read for the science or animal inclined reader.
