Okay. This is totally awesome. Not only do we have here a huge book with maps, photos, and fascinating facts about different countries--but we also have a companion website at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/kids-world-atlas/ so we can see and hear the sights of people and animals connected to the world's lands.
This means, if we want to look up Asia, for example, we start in the book with a satellite view of the area. Then we look at the maps. Next, we read fascinating facts and pore over spectacular images about the continent. Then, the book breaks Asia down into different areas. Each has maps, photos, and informational sidebars.
After we've read all about Asia, we hit the website to view photo galleries, read "Know Before You Go" tips, and check out Asian cities. Seriously, a person could get happily, pleasantly lost while feeling they've gone on a world vacation (I should know!). Highly recommended for both pure enjoyment and educational opportunities.
