I love James Breakwell and I love You Can't be a Pterodactyl!

The illustrations are gorgeous. They are so vibrant, and the illustrator did a wonderful job of conveying both emotion and movement. My favorites are probably the YouPTube page, as well as when Tommy and his dad are gliding outdoors.

I love the way the book is written. It's a book with a serious topic, but there are still a few laugh out loud moments.
I loved Breakwell's take on "You can be anything you want to be." Tommy had what everyone said was unrealistic dream, and was then told "well, almost anything." It broke my heart for him, as a mom and an educator. The way his dad handled it when he got home from school that day, oh my. The ending was beautiful. I see this being a book we return to often.
