When I think of Amelia Earhart, I generally think only of her famous disappearance. Descriptions in this book about her daredevil childhood antics caught and held my attention right away.
As a child, Amelia actually built her very own roller coaster, running right off the roof of her house! The facts about her flight career and how it came to be were icing on the cake of the rest of her life.
Already a well-told story about a fascinating individual, the picture book also included several pages of Earhart trivia in the form of a timeline at the back.
The colored pencil style illustrations were fun and active. I especially enjoyed the roller coaster pages and one fabulous image of Amelia lying in a field, shrouded by the shadow of a bi-plane from overhead.
Brilliantly done!
