THE HOUSE OF MADAME M is a creepy and interactive book that invites readers to take a tour. They are told not to touch anything and only while the Madame is out, so look quickly before she returns. Each page is full of interactive items, such as pull-tabs, lift-the-flaps, strings holding bones, clock hands to turn, and more. This is a delightful book to explore, as long as you don't mind the creepy and macabre.

What I loved: The interactive elements and large size of this book are delightful. This would be great for middle grade readers who enjoy Halloween and don't mind picking up a (kind of) picture book. There are so many things to explore on each page that this could keep children busy for a while. The idea of touching being forbidden with so much clearly made for touching adds some delight to the exploration.

What left me wanting more: Not so much problematic as just a warning, but this book is very creepy with skeletons and decomposing things in the compost bin and all sorts of creepy-crawlies. For this reason, the book may be better for older readers who are just beginning to explore things along the "horror" genre lines.

Final verdict: Great for older readers who enjoy the macabre, THE HOUSE OF MADAME M is an unique and interactive exploration through a haunted house.
