Review Detail
Emmy loves all trees, but she loves mimosa trees most of all. She loves their fuzzy pink blossoms and rattling seed pods. Mimosa trees are stubborn and strong and a little bit wild. Just like her. More than anything, Emmy wishes to have a mimosa of her own as her birthday gift. In both words and pictures, this book depicts affectionate and supportive family members who understand Emmys wish and it also shows the adults at garden shops who cant understand the little girls fervent desire. They consider the mimosa to be the tree equivalent of a dandelion, which is another plant you cant buy in a store. Emmy is passionate (and stubborn) about her favorite tree and nothing else will do for a birthday gift, and so the hunt begins.
Mary Ann Rodman, author of First Grade Stinks! and the award-winning picture book My Best Friend, has once again delivered a lovely story full of humor, sweetness, and a delightful main character. Tatjana Mai-Wysss illustrations capture the spirit of this tree-loving little girl. I loved this book!
