Boar is grumpy. Hedgehog is a know-it-all. Could they EVER be friends? From an outstanding team comes a classic story of unexpected camaraderie, told with wit and disarming sweetness.

All the animals say Boar is cranky. And he does live in a dark cave—that matches his mood just fine. But annoying Hedgehog keeps offering suggestions for nicer spots, near the riverbank, for example. Hedgehog probably wants to be helpful, but he comes across as a busybody.

When Hedgehog gets stuck in a hole and calls for help, who might come assist him? Well, Boar might. If they were friends. But are they? This captivating and funny story of two characters who find unlikely companionship together is brought to vibrant life by Eugene Yelchin’s superb illustrations.

It's a tale as old as time. Boar the neighborhood grump likes to be left to himself, but this pesky cheerful Hedgehog keeps giving him helpful advice. And when it comes time for Boar to do a good thing for Hedgehog, this prickly pig might have to admit that he has made a friend after all.

Just like Boar, the story is candid and direct to the point. For example, Boar's home is unpleasant, like "a reflection of his own miserable heart" - until he starts listening to Hedgehog, that is. Part of what sets Boar apart from other grumpy characters is his willingness to change (although, admitting it is quite another thing) and I found it quite endearing how he grumped and grumbled but couldn't deny that Hedgehog might be making some very good points about how to make his home and heart a little happier. Hedgehog, for his part, is an exemplary busybody neighbor. He gives his opinions with good cheer, shrugs off the rebuttal with a casual whatevs, and continues to share his good sense when it seems needed.

Perfect for animal lovers and readers who can't wait to see how an unlikely duo will become friends.
