Two cats, Bud and Gabby, are true friends. Bud is bossy and Gabby is patient. They have their routines, heavy on the grooming and snoozing. But then Gabby gets sick and is carried away. Poor Bud. He's so concerned, he overgrooms to the point where he gets a hairball. He watches for and thinks about Gabby constantly. But one day, Gabby comes home, better than ever.

This loving tale of friendship is augmented with brilliant childlike illustrations. There are many touches of humor (under the caption, "everything's working okay", we view the healthy Gabby poised over her bright yellow litter box). I predict it will be a very popular read aloud-- and it also works well as a reassurance for children with ill friends or family members.
