What Worked: Going to the Doctor can be a source of anxiety for kids. In this book, going to the Doctor is presented as a positive and easy thing to do. Many examples are given, and the pictures show the children having fun and being happy as the Doctor shows what to expect. It repeats the message that what the Doctor is doing is to make sure you are growing strong and healthy.
Final Verdict: This is an excellent story for preschool children who may be unsure of the doctor. It is presented positively and doesn’t even suggest there is a reason to worry. This would be a good opening before talking to your own young child about their upcoming visit to the doctor. As a bonus, the book includes a fun growth chart that parents can hang on the wall so their own child can see growth over time.
