DINOSAURS: MY FIRST CARRY BOOK is a fun collection of images and short sentences for dinosaur enthusiasts. Each page spread has a header and theme with several dinosaurs shown (and labeled with their names!). The end of the book also includes basic information on what the Earth looked like back then and about digging for fossils.
What I loved: This is a delightful collection of dinosaur images with lots of bright colors and very basic facts that will work well for young toddlers. The collected dinosaurs are grouped into themes which help to draw connections between them and point out similarities. For instance, there is a page looking at dinosaurs who were plant eaters and their special characteristics. While the information is very surface level and simplistic, this is a great start for little ones who can see some of the connections and learn new things.
I also appreciate that the dinosaur images have names next to them. As a caregiver who is frequently asked additional questions but does not know all the dinosaurs, this is incredibly helpful! While there were many whose names I recognized, there were also a lot that were new to me.
The format of the book was also fun, with thick board book pages that were easy to turn and a handle on top for ease of carrying around. The front cover was also textured, which is enjoyable for little hands to explore.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, I am not sure if the images match the current thinking on how dinosaurs looked, but this can be a topic to explore more as children get older - it is definitely evolving!
Final verdict: DINOSAURS: MY FIRST CARRY BOOK is an enjoyable board book that will appeal to the youngest dinosaur enthusiasts! Recommend for young toddlers.
