EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT BUGS (AND OTHER TINY CREATURES) IS WRONG! is an engaging and informative picture book/resource. The book includes a header on each page of a myth that is going to be busted throughout the text on the pages, such as that all flies look the same or that you sometimes eat spiders in your sleep.

What I loved: This is an entertaining look at common misconceptions around bugs. The book includes a lot of information on each page with all sorts of bugs (and other small creatures) featured alongside detailed text that lays out the important details. The illustrations are really fantastic throughout with lots of detail, realistic looking creatures, and fantastic use of color. There are many images on each page and this helps to break up the text and keep the book visually engaging as well.

In terms of the information, there is so much contained within! This book gives all sorts of facts about a bunch of different species and groups the info well alongside certain myths. There are so many interesting facts and some of them are new to me! This can be read as a random page or two at a time, which is great for the intended age group - and especially readers who love to be well-informed with plenty of fun facts to share.

Final verdict: With a conversational tone and fantastic illustrations, EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT BUGS (AND OTHER TINY CREATURES) IS WRONG! is an entertaining and educational read that will work well for older elementary school readers. Be prepared to learn a lot of cool facts about bugs!

Are there certain facts about bugs that you are certain of? Such as bees dying when they sting you, or it's a spider if it has eight legs. Well, this book will tell you why you are wrong and why you are mistaken. There are so many bugs out there that it’s impossible to know everything about each one of them, but come along as you begin to uncover the truth and debunk common myths that you might have heard.

What I Liked: Now, how many of us would much rather go our whole lives not knowing certain insects and bugs? I know that I am one of those people, but this book was fascinating and made me want to dive deep into some of these bugs, and just where they are found and what they do. This is a book that will live on your shelves, that you will find yourself pulling out anytime you are looking for a fun fact to share with people.

While realistic, the illustrations in this book have been enlarged to show varying details of the different bugs. There were various bugs included in this book, which was intriguing, especially when seeing spiders or other bugs that are non native to anywhere that I have been. It was also fascinating to learn that there are some bugs that look like spiders but due to certain features they wouldn’t be classified as spiders, and that there is an insect that is longer than the average cat.

Final Verdict: Everything You Know About Bugs (And Other Tiny Creatures) Is Wrong is a fascinating book that delves deep into myths and other information that we may have thought was common knowledge that is wrong. Children ages 8 and up who enjoy bugs will love learning more about the various bugs that are in their backyards and others that we may not come into contact with as often. This book will teach you the beauty of the bug world and the various ways in which bugs contribute to the exosystem.
