Jon Agee's George and Lenny Are Always Together is a delightful picture book about the delicate balance of friendship, geared toward young readers. As the title suggests, George, a big, lovable bear, and Lenny, a small, curious rabbit, are always together. But one day, Lenny wonders what it would be like to have some time alone. George is confused by this idea and resistant, thinking that being alone would be "lonely and sad."
Lenny, determined to have alone time, finds a perfect spot that George can't follow him into because of his size. Lenny enjoys playing by himself but quickly realizes that time with his best friend is what he enjoys most.

What I Liked: It's a sweet story that helps readers learn about the balance of friendship and alone time in a really simple and straightforward way. It validates the idea that it's okay to want a moment to yourself, even within a close relationship. The illustrations are a huge part of the book's appeal. The drawings use a bold, black outline that makes them pop off the page. What's most impressive is the way Jon Agee so effectively captures the emotions of George and Lenny, making their feelings clear and relatable to the reader.

George and Lenny Are Always Together is a sweet picture book that reminds us that true friendship is not about being together every moment, but about the joy of reuniting again.
