HOW TO FIND A YETI is an adorable picture book with a dash of humor. A boy is sure that yeti lives behind his house and decides to search for it with the help of his dog Milo. However, they do not see the yeti - even as the reader can see it not far from them. At the end of the book, they head home without the boy spotting the yeti - but he realizes he left his scarf in the woods. Deciding to get it the next day, he goes to bed. The yeti brings it all the way to his porch for him to find in the morning.

What I loved: This is a really sweet story with a touch of silly. Young readers will love spotting the yeti around the book and the tension created by what they know is there - but the main character does not. Even the dog spots the yeti. It adds a touch of magic and mystery to the story, leading readers to understand that just because they don't see something (like the boy), it does not mean it isn't there. The ending with the scarf was particularly sweet.

The story captures the boy's emotions well, with great use of color and design to convey his mood as the search continues. The wintery scenes have lots of detail to help keep attention and allow children to search alongside the boy for the yeti that seems so apparent throughout.

Final verdict: HOW TO FIND A YETI is a sweet and silly picture book that young readers will delight in exploring.
