Kid Review: You and Me, Baby By Aisha Saeed

About This Book:

A beautiful celebration of mamas and babies getting to know each other, by New York Times bestselling author Aisha Saeed

The arrival of a new baby changes everything. These marvelous little beings bring with them a whole lot of sweetness—and a whole set of new experiences to navigate. But the wonderful thing is that we learn and grow together, just like the mamas and babies in this book, and with time we all get the hang of this brand-new relationship. You and me, baby

Perfect Baby Shower Present

A new mother tells her baby how she has learned to care for an infant. From the beginning, the mother enjoyed holding and watching her baby, and as the child grew, she learned how to stop her from crying, and figure out the signs that the child is hungry or needs changing. Soon, the child crawls, walks, and grows up, but the mother and child still share a bond.
Good Points
The simple text ( with lovely font in purple and teal) is supported by the watercolor style illustrations rendered in soft pastels. The mothers and babies are a variety of skin tones, and are depicted against minimalistic backgrounds. The babies are adorable, with wide eyes and chubby cheeks, and their mothers hold them closely.

This would make a charming baby shower present, accompanied by a pastel blanket, or combined with Knisley’s You Are New, Duncan and Freeman’s For You I Will, Lundeen’s Dear Mom, or Shane’s When I Became Your Mommy.
