L.O.L.: G.O.A.T. Laughs Out Loud is an instant favorite. Young readers may be unfamiliar with the text shorthand, LOL, just as Duck is. Duck does not understand that Goat says LOL when he did NOT in fact laugh. For the rest of the book, Duck suggests better meanings of the phrase, like Lobsters Overheating Lasagna.
The illustrations are a highlight to this story and a perfect complement to the wacky words. I also like the homage to the first book when Goat is shown first using LOL while reading his own book. The last page with Duck’s reaction is a chef’s kiss that is fun for readers, young and old.
Overall, this book will work so well as a read-aloud, and the humor is great for a large range of readers. I highly recommend you read this book; it will definitely join my personal library.
