LIKE A GIANT is an intriguing picture book about imagination and play. A young child is approached by a giant, and together they head off into the world to explore. They see the trees, trains, whales, and more. With a poetic prose, the book takes the reader into their imagination to explore the world and its giants.

What I loved: The images were quite imaginative, and the illustrations include plenty of details that make them absolutely fascinating to explore. The giant manifests differently throughout the book and calls attention to the giants of the world, such as whales, trains, and giant trees. The writing feels like a poem that takes the reader around the world, through other climates and locations with simple phrases on each page. The writing is relatively brief, which allows the images to speak to the reader.

What left me wanting more: As a small point, there is not a real storyline to the book, and something to bring it all together would have been icing on the cake.

Final verdict: An imaginative story about a child taking a trip with a giant, LIKE A GIANT is a beautifully illustrated picture book, ideal for visual readers.
