From beginning to end, readers get to see Miss Prim undergo this amazing transformation in this delightful and whimsical story.
Miss Prim is known around the neighborhood by such descriptors as practical, stern, no-nonsense and even scary. She spends her days looking for problems – like grass to snip, wildflowers to pull, birds and bees (and kids) to shoo away. After all, she could not be bothered with nature’s shenanigans.
Getting injured, Miss Prim is rendered unable to snip and pull and shoo which means… nature invades her yard with the arrival of Spring!
Miss Prim goes from reading books with titles such as "Creating a Concrete Yard" and "How to Train Your Neighbors" to books titled "Come Back Birds" and "The More Bugs, The Better."
The story of Miss Prim is lyrically told, and is both captivating and unpredictable for young readers.
I absolutely loved the delightful alliteration and rich vocabulary that Katy Rose utilizes in Miss Prim Goes Wild, making it a really fun book to read aloud in a home or school setting. Highlighted in bold print throughout, readers can easily spot verbs, adjectives and other parts of speech.
Thai My Phuong did a truly outstanding job and has added much fun and enjoyment to the reading with her warm & vibrant illustrations. The thoughtful placement of the colors, the way the character is drawn, the ‘handwritten’ asides and even the progressively-softer tone of the vocabulary all contribute to readers’ understanding of the changes happening in Miss Prim’s heart.
Young readers are sure to be thrilled with the prospect of finding Miss Prim's little black cat on each spread.
The book closes with a 4 page spread of ‘Miss Prim’s Wild Nature Notebook’ and ‘Ways to go Wild’, where she gives the youthful reader and their caregivers, creative ideas on how to attract wildlife to the spaces where they live and play!
Miss Prim Goes Wild contains the important lesson of learning how to admire the world around you and to let nature be, by encouraging one to feel the grass beneath their toes, smell the flowers, and see the birds & bugs & colors that can fill the world with joy.
