Orris and Timble: Lost and Found continues to pack a lot of heart into simple text, making it perfect for beginning chapter book readers. The illustration style evokes a feeling of nostalgia for an older generation of illustrated chapter books like Frog and Toad.
Timble is growing up and doesn’t come back to visit for several days. Orris is heartbroken and not quick to forgive once Timble returns. However, through the power of story, Timble can explain the events that led to his absence and his happiness to be back with his friend.
Overall, these two friends have a setback in their relationship and have to process big emotions. The illustrations reinforced the emotions while still giving feelings of calm and wisdom to the reader. This is a gentle beginning chapter book for younger Elementary students.
