I love this book to pieces. I nearly cried as I read it. It's *that* amazing. Charlie's grandpa told him one amazing story after another when Charlie was little (A pirate lives in the attic! A gnome lives in the basement!), but now his grandpa doesn't recognize him or talk to him anymore because a terrible disease has eaten up his memories. Charlie decides to start telling some of his grandpa's fabulous stories back to him in an effort to get him to smile, eat his dinner, and interact with his family, even if he isn't sure who they are. It works, and so Charlie keeps telling stories.
This is heart-warming, heart-breaking, and so, so relevant to children who are dealing with the difficulty of losing a beloved relative to this terrible disease. I highly recommend it.
