Jon Schu has quickly become one of my favorite authors, so I jumped at the chance to review his latest book Ruthie Rose's Big Idea. This charming picture book follows Ruthie Rose who wakes up with a "big, bright, beautiful idea" and sets out to share it with her school.
What I Liked: Ruthie is a lovable character, and her infectious enthusiasm for her "big idea" immediately hooks the reader. The standout of this book is undoubtedly the vibrant illustrations by Holly Hatam, which truly bring the story to life. I especially loved how Hatam cleverly hid classic poems within the illustrations – a delightful detail! There's so much positivity and support woven throughout this story, as Ruthie's classmates and teachers rally around her vision. The story left me feeling warm, fuzzy, and hopeful for future generations.
Ruthie Rose's Big Idea is a delightful picture book that shows how a community can embrace your ideas and dreams.
