Stella and Roger Are on the Move is a great choice for readers who are going through the moving process. Stella is not at all happy to learn that her family will be moving out of state. The story captures her nostalgia for where she has always lived in the unabashed, truthful way that kids see the world like home, smelling like dust and banana bread. She tries to convince her parents that she can just live there while they move, but when they don’t agree, she discovers that her new place can also feel like home. This story captures the humor and literal way children react to life changes and the process of her coming to terms with the move. Overall, this story is reassuring with a touch of lightheartedness. This is the fourth book in the Stella and Roger storyline, but you would not need to have read the other books for this book to make sense and be enjoyable.
