What I liked:
Stop the Clock is an eye-opening children's book that surrounds the idea of how rushed we all are in this world and how much we can miss, and maybe taking a bit more time to see our world could be a good thing.
Joe is being rushed to school as they are running late that morning; as a result, when his teacher asks him to paint what he saw on the way to school, he is so overwhelmed from all the rushing about he yells at the Clock to stop time.
Final Verdict:
We all wish to stop time, to be able to enjoy moments for just a bit longer. To languish on a walk, to take the slower path instead of always rushing from one place to another. So when Joe stops and goes back to look at the world, he misses on the mad dash to school that day, resulting in a more detailed picture for him to paint at school.
The illustrations in this story when time is stopped are more precise and detailed than when Joe is rushed to school earlier in the book. A gentle reminder is a big world out there, and we can miss it if we are always running and not taking things a bit slower once in a while.
