Nellie is a hungry, lonely cat. She wishes for a warm home and food to fill her belly. A crow overhears Nellie's yearnings and decides to play a trick on her. Tossing a glittery ball to the cat, he declares that it will make her wishes come true if she bounces and catches it.

Nellie can't resist. But when she bounces the ball, off it goes. Nellie chases it, and away she goes until she eventually meets a friendly crocodile wo wishes for a lion to take home . . .and a beautiful (and touching) friendship is born.

This charming book's delightful illustrations are a perfect match for the wonderful story depicting hope for happiness against high odds. Highly recommended.
