CONSTRUCTION SITE: ROAD CREW, COMING THROUGH! is a delightful picture book about how a new road is constructed. It takes a large crew to make a new super-highway, but these vehicles are up to the task. Working hard, each truck has their job to do to ensure the road is completed correctly. The book takes us through each vehicle and their role in bringing the road to life.

What I loved: As part of a series, this is a book that will have high appeal for fans although it can certainly be read on its own. Some of the great things about this series are carried through to this book, including the rhyming text that rolls smoothly off the tongue, the adorable and detailed construction vehicles on each page, the focus on the jobs done by a wide variety of vehicles to create something together, and the ending where they complete the job and get to go to sleep, finishing with a goodnight that makes it work so well for bedtime. Children can really get an idea of the breadth of work that goes into creating the things they see everyday through this book, as well as the power of teamwork, where each vehicle has a role in creating something great. The detailed illustrations give children a lot to explore on each page, making this one they can enjoy flipping through on their own as well as reading with a caregiver.

The backmatter also includes an interesting note about road construction, in that builders are trying to be more mindful of animals and their migration patterns when putting in highways like this. The note gives children something to search for in the pages (a coyote) that elevates this read even beyond construction vehicles and their hard work!

Final verdict: A delightful new story in a great series, CONSTRUCTION SITE: ROAD CREW, COMING THROUGH! is a highly enjoyable picture book that takes readers on a rhyming journey through all the vehicles that work together to create a super highway!
