FIVE LITTLE DUCKS is an adorable board book of the popular nursery rhyme. The book features 5 children dressed as ducks, who are going out one day, over the hills and far away. When mother duck calls for them though, only 4 little ducks come back. The end of the book includes the prompts for the rest of the refrains before the final one when they all come back.

What I loved: This is a cute picture book of the popular nursery rhyme. I appreciated the diversity of the children shown and their cute duck costumes, which also contain plenty of bright colors for little eyes. The board book itself is rather short, with each line of the first part of the rhyme getting its own page spread, making it light and easier for little ones to hold themselves. Babies and young toddlers will also appreciate how quickly the pages turn. Caregivers can share the whole nursery rhyme with the prompts for the rest of the countdown on the ending pages. This page also includes ducks that children can count with caregivers.

What left me wanting more: Young readers may get a little board with the ending of the rhyme when pages are not turning. It would have been helpful to condense pages a bit more to spread out the rhyme more evenly with the countdowns.

Final verdict: A cute nursery rhyme, FIVE LITTLE DUCKS is a board book that little ones can enjoy with caregivers, while also learning some counting.
