A mother explains her illness and the changes that her body is undergoing to her child. She offers comfort, guidance, and explanation as she reassures her daughter that no matter what life has in store for them, their love for each other will always stay strong.

What I Liked: This book does a great job of highlighting how love stays strong regardless of what is going on outside of that love, and how nothing can take love away. The soft illustrations throughout the book go along with the love that is being highlighted by the parent to her child. The illustrations also showcase the difficulty of what happens when someone is battling an illness and the changes to expect with that battle. This book does a great job of explaining changes that happen in the body and what this battle looks like to a younger audience, so that they will not fear these changes, such as hair falling off or tiredness.

Final Verdict: Love Stays Strong is a book that is perfect for children ages 4 and up to explain illness and what happens to a family when someone is undergoing treatment for that illness. This book is a great tool to explain to children what happens when someone has a chronic illness, and some of the things that might change. Children will be comforted in knowing that while all these other changes might be happening, there is one thing that won’t change, and that’s the love that their parent has for them.
